Bathroom Accessories for Hotels and Holiday Apartments: How to Choose Products That Last and Stay Elegant for Years
Furnishing a bathroom in a hotel or holiday apartment requires a different approach from designing a private bathroom. Accessories are used much more intensively, cleaned frequently, and constantly exposed to moisture, water and the various products used by cleaning staff.
That is why, when choosing them, it is worth considering not only design and purchase price, but also durability, materials, type of finish, functionality and a style that will remain relevant over the years.
Well-chosen bathroom accessories should last for years while remaining an elegant part of the interior throughout their lifespan.
1. Start by choosing the right material
For hotels and holiday apartments, we particularly recommend accessories made from brass and high-quality stainless steel, especially AISI 304 stainless steel.
These materials are particularly well suited to bathroom environments, where exposure to moisture and water is constant.
In a private bathroom, the difference between a high-quality product and a more basic one may take a long time to become noticeable. In a hotel or holiday apartment with a high turnover of guests and frequent cleaning, differences in quality usually become apparent much sooner.
That is why we recommend always checking what a product is actually made of rather than choosing it solely based on appearance.
2. Chrome, PVD or painted finish?
The base material is only one part of the decision. The second is the type of surface finish.
Chrome remains one of the most versatile solutions. A high-quality electroplated finish is elegant, timeless and works with virtually any bathroom style.
When looking for other colours, PVD technology is a particularly interesting option.
It makes it possible to create finishes such as brushed gold, brushed copper, brushed graphite or brushed nickel while providing good performance for everyday use.
For hotels and holiday apartments, we particularly recommend brushed PVD finishes.
High-gloss PVD surfaces can be more demanding in everyday use. Water marks, fingerprints and dirt tend to be more visible, and some finishes may also be more sensitive to changes in appearance if they are not maintained correctly.
A brushed surface is more practical in this respect and works particularly well in heavily used spaces.
With colours such as black or white, it is also important to pay attention to the technology used. A simply painted surface may develop scratches or localised wear over time, particularly when it is cleaned very frequently.
3. Do not equip the bathroom with more accessories than it actually needs
In hotels and holiday accommodation, having more accessories does not necessarily mean having a better-equipped bathroom.
Based on our experience, a basic and functional set should include:
toilet paper holder,
hook or robe hook,
toilet brush,
shower basket or shower shelf.
Depending on the size of the bathroom, a longer towel rail and a holder for a spare toilet roll can also be added.
It is a simple set, but it provides guests with practically everything they actually need.
In hotels, consistency is also particularly important. Using the same collection across multiple rooms makes future replacements easier and helps maintain a coherent aesthetic throughout the property.
4. Why don't we always recommend wall-mounted soap dispensers and traditional soap dishes?
Every additional mechanism is another component that may require maintenance or replacement in the future.
Wall-mounted soap dispensers are a good example. Their pump mechanisms are used continuously and may eventually fail.
If the same model is no longer available after several years, the problem is not simply finding a new dispenser. Removing the old product may also leave visible holes in the tiles.
For this reason, professional dispensing systems supplied directly by cosmetic manufacturers, or solutions that can be replaced easily, may be more practical for many hotel projects.
We take a similar view of traditional soap dishes. In contemporary hotels and holiday apartments, they are increasingly being replaced by liquid toiletries and dispensing systems designed specifically for the hospitality sector.
The simpler the equipment, the fewer potential problems there are over years of use.
5. Toilet brushes: preferably metal and wall-mounted
It may be a small bathroom accessory, but from a practical point of view, choosing the right toilet brush deserves careful consideration.
For hotels and holiday apartments, we particularly recommend toilet brushes with a high-quality, enclosed metal container.
Glass containers can lose their original appearance over time due to water, deposits and cleaning products. In addition, when the glass is transparent or translucent, part of the brush itself may remain visible.
A metal container is more discreet and, in our opinion, much better suited aesthetically to a hotel bathroom.
Whenever possible, we also recommend installing the toilet brush on the wall rather than placing it directly on the floor.
This makes it easier to clean the area underneath and reduces direct contact between the accessory and the water or detergents used to clean the floor.
In a single bathroom, this may seem like a minor detail. In a hotel with dozens of rooms and thousands of cleaning cycles, it becomes a very practical solution.
6. Screw-mounted or no-drill installation?
Both systems have their advantages.
Traditional fixing with wall plugs and screws remains an excellent solution for permanent installations where drilling into tiles is not an issue.
However, no-drill bathroom accessories are becoming an increasingly attractive option.
They are particularly useful in renovation projects and holiday apartments because they allow bathroom accessories to be installed without drilling into tiles or other wall finishes.
They also offer a long-term advantage. If, after several years, you want to replace a product or change the bathroom design, there are no holes left behind that need to be concealed.
With adhesive accessories, however, the quality of the fixing system, correct surface preparation and the use of products specifically designed for this type of installation are particularly important.
Not every accessory originally designed to be installed with screws should simply be glued to the wall.
7. Timeless colours or finishes with more character?
For hotels and investment properties, we recommend thinking about colour from a long-term perspective.
Will the finish that is fashionable today still look elegant in five or ten years?
Chrome remains one of the safest choices.
It is timeless, versatile and easy to combine with taps, ceramics and virtually any interior style.
The same applies to brushed nickel, which offers a more subtle and slightly warmer appearance.
If the project calls for a stronger identity, brushed graphite, brushed gold and brushed copper are particularly interesting alternatives.
Bathroom accessories do not necessarily have to be exactly the same colour as the taps and other fittings.
You can create complete colour consistency or deliberately use a second finish as a contrast. The important thing is that the combination looks intentional and that too many different finishes are not introduced into a small bathroom.
8. It is not only the colour that should be timeless – the design should be too
For us, product durability means more than mechanical resistance.
A well-designed bathroom accessory should still look contemporary after many years.

Interior design trends change. Over time, furniture, mirrors, textiles and other decorative elements may be replaced. Good bathroom accessories, however, should still be able to fit naturally into the updated interior.

Even more distinctive colours such as graphite, gold or copper can remain elegant for many years if the design of the product itself is simple and timeless.
9. How should bathroom accessories be cleaned so that they really last for years?
This is one of the most important aspects and, at the same time, one of the easiest to forget once a project has been completed.
No metal bathroom accessory benefits from frequent contact with aggressive chemicals.
Strong cleaners containing acids, chlorine, bleach or abrasive ingredients can gradually damage surfaces, cause discolouration, weaken coatings and eventually contribute to corrosion.
This can also happen to high-quality products.
For this reason, we always recommend cleaning bathroom accessories as gently as possible.
For regular maintenance, a soft, damp cloth with a small amount of mild or neutral soap is usually sufficient.
After cleaning, any remaining product should be removed and the accessory dried with a soft cloth. This also helps reduce water marks and limescale deposits.
We advise against leaving aggressive cleaning chemicals on surfaces for extended periods or using rough sponges and abrasive cleaning products.
In a hotel, providing cleaning staff with appropriate care instructions can help preserve the appearance of bathroom accessories for many years.
10. How would we equip a hotel or holiday apartment bathroom?
We would start with a simple, high-quality set:
a toilet paper holder, hook, wall-mounted toilet brush and shower basket or shelf.
Then, depending on the size of the bathroom, we would add a longer towel rail and a holder for a spare toilet roll.
When choosing products, we would consider, in this order: the material, quality of the finish, installation method, ease of cleaning, future product availability and the timeless character of the design.
Colour would come afterwards.
For a neutral project designed to remain attractive for many years, we would primarily choose chrome or brushed nickel.
For projects with a stronger visual identity, brushed graphite, brushed gold or brushed copper can be excellent choices, preferably using high-quality PVD finishes where possible.
